“Seeking Light” by Maryse Lemay

Galerie Old Chelsea, Chelsea, Quebec

May 3 to 22, 2024 - Wednesday to Saturday noon to 6 pm; Sunday noon to 5 pm

Vernissage:  Saturday May 4, 1 to 4 pm

Galerie Old Chelsea is pleased to feature the works by Maryse Lemay, a multidisciplinary artist who is particularly interested in intuitive artistic creation.

In 2012, after more than twenty years in the performing arts as an actor, a singer and a dancer, painting appeared in Maryse Lemay’s life. It imposed itself and she welcomed it. Her abstract paintings are an extension of who she is as a multidisciplinary artist. Like in music and dance, she approaches painting with an immense thirst for freedom and authenticity.

Her objective is to allow the subconscious mind to express itself, to trust her intuition and the creative process. As much as possible, she endeavours to reduce the noise of mental chatter so as to see and hear what emerges and to  respect it. Through the application of multiple layers of paint, lines, marks, gestures, colours and textures, her ultimate goal is to create emotional landscapes that connect and resonate with the viewer’s own internal universe.

The « Seeking Light » collection presented by Maryse Lemay is inspired by a desire to find goodness, energy, hope and joy in life’s darker moments.
