Mixed Media

Different subjects and situations call for different mediums, and my love of experimentation and reaction to my environment and the people I encounter, lead to the way I express my reality.

In my portraits I work to go beyond pure representation of the individual so that when people see my work they can react or find a connection with someone they have never met. Some of my subjects I know well and others are representative of a certain charac-ter that I have encountered.

My personal environment or new environments I encounter when travelling cause me to react through paint. Sometimes I work plein air and sometimes from photo references but never in an attempt to maintain the reality of a photo but rather my reaction to what I have experienced. Colour, shape and pattern are intuitive. My painted surfaces express my story and personal style as my form of communication.
