Lucie Leclerc
Lucie’s work explores the beauty of nature and her
paintings portray her love for the outdoors. She likes to use bright and
lively colours that best depicts her personality. Lucie works mostly in
oil and lately has been enjoying painting using encaustic, the ancient
method of combining bee wax with colour pigments and dammar. Lucie has
found that the physical act of painting unleashed dormant creativity.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Lucie grew up in Hull,
Quebec. Her older brother Denis showed artistic talent at an early age
and Lucie was always intrigued by Denis's creativity. It inspired her to
start painting in her early forties. She enrolled in art courses with
the Ottawa School of Art and the Visual Art Centre of Orleans (VACO).
Lucie has also spent time in Séguret, France at the «Atelier artistique
de Séguret».
Lucie’s paintings are in private collections across
Canada, USA and Europe. She has participated in many group exhibitions
at the Old Chelsea Gallery, the Ottawa
Folklore Centre and Mouvement d'implication francophone d'Orléans (MIFO)
as well as at the VACO Gallery. She had a solo exhibition at the Ottawa
Folklore Center. She is an active participant in the annual Orleans
Studio Tour. She is an active member of the Plein Air Ensemble painting
group and a member in good standing of the Ottawa Art Association, and
the East Central Ontario Art Association.
