Gail Knox
Gail has always had and interest in the visual arts. During her high school years she became interested in the work of the impressionist painters after visiting the Van Gogh exhibit at the National Gallery. She continued her study of Art at Carleton University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree.Gail has been painting seriously since 1998 when she transferred her creative energy from teaching kindergarten to her personal artistic pursuits. She has experimented with a variety of creative media and in the past enjoyed creating pottery on the wheel.
Gail paints with waterolour and acrylic and enjoys experimenting with a variety of techniques and styles of painting. She has taken art courses through St. Lawrence and Algonquin Colleges and has studied with several world renowned artists.
Gail paints what she loves: images from her travels and everyday life, hoping to capture the essence of a time or place. She enjoys sharing her paintings with others and is delighted with the response they have received. Gail is always pleased when someone wishes to own and live with one of her paintings and knows then that she has truly communicated her feelings for the subject.
Gail is pleased to be a member of the Rideau Lakes Arists’ Association and the Nepean Fine Arts League. She has entered juried shows in Kanata, and Nepean and has won the President’s Choice Award and the Member’s Choice Award respectively at these shows.
During the summer of 2008, Gail had a painting juried from over 400 entries into the 1st Annual Juried show at the Marianne Van Silfhout Gallery at St. Lawrence College in Brockville. Her painting “Man on a Mission “ was chosen as the Visitor’s Favourite at the RLAA Art Show and Sale in August, 2008 and she was selected by visitors to the Art on the Lawn Show in Perth in July, 2008 as Favourite Artist. Gail is pleased to regularly show her paintings at the Galerie Old Chelsea in Old Chelsea, Quebec. Gail’s paintings can be found in collections in Europe, Great Britain, Barbados, Canada and the US.
