Malcolm Cowell
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Malcolm grew up with a
fascination for nature and the great outdoors. After years
of photography, in his mid forties he was inspired, under the influence
of his wife Lucie, to start painting, and consequently enrolled in art
courses at the Ottawa School of Art and the Visual Art Centre of Orleans
(VACO). Malcolm
has also studied for a month at the L’Atelier artistique de Séguret in
Séguret, Provence, France.
Malcolm works in a variety of media, primarily oils, acrylics and
watercolours.
His works are in private collections across Canada and the USA. He has participated in many group exhibitions at the Gallery Old Chelsea as well as at the Visual Art Centre Orleans (VACO) Gallery, solo and group exhibitions at the Ottawa Folklore Centre, and Malcolm participates in the annual Plein Air Ensemble Group Show at Gallery Old Chelsea. He is a committee member of the Plein Air Ensemble painting group, a member of the East Central Ontario Art Association, and a member of the Ottawa Art Association.
